You don't need clothes but, as in real life, they are useful for reducing social friction.
An Avatar has 5 different slots for Clothes: Hat, Hair, Top, Bottom, Shoes. An Avatar can be wearing between all or none of these and still be able to play the game.
If the player is wearing the appropriate job-specific Clothes when completing a job (eg. wearing parts of a police uniform when completing an arrest), the player receives an XP bonus on top of their normal XP. Bonuses stack, so the more job-specific pieces the player wears, the more XP they earn (though there's no such thing as 'police hair').
Clothes NFTs can be minted at the Clothing Factory or Shops in your District. They are purchased using $NMC.
The availability of Clothes NFTs depends on the upgrade level of your Clothes Factory. Also, the availability of job-specific Clothes NFTs at Clothing Factories depends on the upgrade level of Job Hubs in your District. As Job Hubs are upgraded, higher rarities of job-specific Clothes will be unlocked.
New Clothes NFTs will be released on a seasonal basis as limited editions. Some of these limited collections will act as access keys to certain events, eg. Fancy Dress, Black Tie.
Clothes are available in 5 rarities. Higher rarity means:
Higher XP bonus when used for specific jobs.
Higher exclusivity.
